Bookings are now being taken for July, Monday afternoon Painting classes in Barnoldswick Library. Classes take place from 1-3pm in the upstairs meeting room. This month the series of classes is entitled “A Welsh Odyssey” as all the subjects can be found in North Wales. The first class starts on the 3rd July with a Watercolour and Ink painting of a cottage in the mountains and the following weeks continue with an atmospheric painting of a wild overgrown footpath In watercolour and gouache, a charcoal drawing of Snowdon from Llyn Nantile and Tryfan from below the bridge at Ogwen Cottage. The last class of the month on 31st July features the Trwyn Du Lighthouse at Penmon In Anglesey in Watercolour and Gouache.

3rd July - Mon 1-3
Cottage in the Mountains - Watercolour & Ink
A nice watercolour that can be enhanced by a little (and I mean little) penwork.

10th July - Mon 1-3
The Gwyllt - Watercolour and Gouache
An atmospheric scene looking down a wild overgrown pathway - found in the wilderness of labyrinthine pathways at Portmeirion.

17th July - Mon 1-3
Snowdon from Llyn Nantile - Charcoal
An atmospheric scene looking across the lake towards Snowdon.

24th July - Mon 1-3
Tryfan and the bridge at Ogwen Cottage -
Watercolour
Although its another mountain the bridge and waterfall are the main elements of this painting.

24th July - Mon 1-3
Trwyn Du Lighthouse - Watercolour & Gouache
A maritime painting set at Penmon, Anglesey.

Full programs are available at the library.

The cost is £10 per half day session and includes all materials needed to complete the painting - just turn up on the day, sit down and paint. All sessions are independent of one another. To book just contact Malcolm on 07776036674 or just turn up as there is usually an extra place set. See www.malcolmmbullock.co.uk/articles for further information. You can also follow what is going on at www.facebook.com/malcolm.painting.classes

The sessions feature a paint- along where the participants will start and finish the painting within the session. The techniques used to produce the painting will follow a step by step approach. This method of teaching allows the individual to quickly develop confidence in using the paints. Skills are also built up through the explanation of the various techniques used in painting the scene as well as the theory, such as composition and colour theory, that goes with it. The development of a personal style of painting is encouraged through individual assessment at various stages of the painting. No one paints exactly the same, we are all unique.

Booking is preferable as course numbers will be kept reasonably small to ensure individual attention. I do usually set an extra place or two so it is also possible to turn up on the day.

Booking can be taken at the information counter at the library or call, text (07776036674) or contact me via the "contact me" page of this website and I will pass the booking on to the library.
