How to paint an effective landscape painting using the new Derwent Inktense blocks featuring an old barn near Beddgelert in Snowdonia.
I will demonstrate how to paint an effective Welsh landscape featuring an old barn in Beddgelert, Snowdonia The afternoon will feature a paint-along using the new Inktense sticks from Derwent pencils. These will be used in a similar fashion to solid watercolour - the secret behind the Inktense blocks being that once the paint is dry it will not lift therefore multiple washes can easily be built up - unlike true watercolour where the paint lifts easily. The
monochrome watercolour painting of the subject will be created with reference to photographic material as well as the original painting. By the end you should have a completed painting and leave with the knowledge of how to reproduce this painting again should you so wish. This painting can easily be reproduced to make a nice greetings card. I have a client in North Wales who loves this sort of thing.
The techniques that I use will follow a step by step approach. This method of teaching allows the individual to quickly develop confidence in using the paints. Skills are also built up through the explanation of the various techniques used in painting the scene. I always encourage the development of a personal style of painting which is achieved through individual assessment at various stages of the painting. No one paints exactly the same, we are all unique.
Course Fee - £12.00p
This includes all art materials as well as the loan of brushes etc.
Booking is preferable as course numbers will be kept small (max 12) to ensure individual attention.
